About Garden Planner

Garden Planner is a free, browser-based tool for designing gardens to real-world scale.

It started as a personal project: I wanted to plan my own garden and found only two kinds of software — heavyweight CAD programs that took a week to learn, and toys that couldn't hold a measurement. Garden Planner is the tool I wanted in between.

What it does

Draw your plot at true scale, place objects from a library of 70+ garden elements — raised beds, greenhouses, trees, paths, fences, furniture — and export the finished plan as PNG, PDF or SVG. No account, no download, no cost.

It's used by home gardeners, allotment holders and landscape designers, with most visitors coming from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Western Europe.

How Garden Planner is funded

Garden Planner is free and has no subscription or paid tier. It is supported by affiliate partnerships.

When you select an object in the editor, the properties panel may show related product categories from retail partners — for example, greenhouse shading when you place a greenhouse. If you buy something after following one of those links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

These recommendations never limit what you can design, and we don't sell or share your design data. Full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Who's behind it

Garden Planner is built and maintained by Petr Šomek, an independent developer based in the Czech Republic.
